| TYPICAL PRECAST SOUND ABSORBING CONCRETE NOISE WALL PANEL
A typical precast sound absorbing concrete noise wall panel is eight (8") inches thick, four (4") inches of sound absorptive mixture and four (4") inches of structural concrete.
Whisper Wall panels are designed to be "stacked" to the walls required elevation. Cast into the top and bottom of each panel is a tongue and groove keyway that aligns and interlocks each panel along the horizonal joint. Panels can span up to a distance of twenty-four (24') feet and stacked as high as fifty-four (54') feet.
Whisper Wall is erected using the top-down construction method. This method varies the height of the bottom panel and allows full height panels to be stacked up to the sound attenuation elevation. Using the top-down method minimumizes the number of horizonal joints.
Many different formliner designs can be used to create a variety of unique highway sound absorbing surfaces that are both aesthetically pleasing and effective at absorbing sound energy.
Surface designes which maximizes surface area and have irregular shapes will capture and direct more sound into the sound absorbing mixture, thus absorbing and dissipating sound wave energy. "Whisper Wall" has a .80 Noise Reduction Coefficient and a 42 Sound Transmission class rating. |
