Since its development, Whisper-Wall has used over 38,451,611 pounds of recycled rubber vehicle tires. That is the equivalent of 1,922,580 worn out vehicle tires.
Worn out rubber vehicle tires are a major environmental problem. In the United States millions of vehicle tires are replaced annually. How do we dispose of these tires ? They end up either being stockpiled or sent to landfill.
Stockpiled worn out tire are fire hazards and places for mosquitoes to breed. Currently, most landfill will not accept old tires because they do not decay rapidly and over time the soil above the buried tires become unstable.
The best way to solve the tire problem is to recycle our old tires and use them in the manufacturing usable products.
From its beginning Whisper-Wall was designed to use recycled rubber tires that have been processed and sized into the shape of small aggregate. The recycled rubber tire aggregate chips are blended with natural aggregates, cement and admixtures to create a sound absorbing mixture. Over the years the environmental benefit of using this unique blend of materials has helped reduce noise pollution and clean the environment.
